Has inclusion/exclusion from the S&P500 changed over the decades?

Ergo: Over time, the positive long-run impact of being added to the S&P 500 was present in the 1980s, has not been present since. (Over the entire sample, it is nothing.) Stocks removed from the S&P 500 may even have outperformed, but this phenomenon has also disappeared.
